Not everyone has room on their bench for a full sized grinder, and that’s exactly what the Fred Tempo is for. It uses a cone shaped grinding disc rather than a flat one (Lelit’s larger William uses flat discs), which lets Lelit fit it into a much smaller machine while still giving you an even, consistent grind.
You adjust the grind with a small side knob, and there’s a simple scale on the hopper from 1 to 7 so you’ve always got a rough idea of where you’re sitting, even before you’ve tasted the shot. To use it, you just set how long you want it to grind for, anywhere from 2 to 20 seconds, and it repeats that exactly every time you press the button, straight into your portafilter.
It’s a genuinely simple machine to learn on. The bean hopper is also tinted, which just means it keeps light off your beans so they stay fresher for longer between refills. If your kitchen is on the smaller side, or you just don’t need the extra size of the William, this is the easier fit. As with the rest of the Lelit range, it’s backed by Coffee Complex as Adelaide’s authorised Lelit repair and warranty centre, and buying it from us includes a 2 year warranty with labour included.
